Welcome to my webpage, and thank you for spending some time here today! Searching for a mental health provider can be a stressful experience. Hopefully this site will assist you in learning about what type of counseling might best fit your needs. This website contains a bit about who I am, my training, services I am able to provide, and resources of specific types of approaches I tend to utilize in my practice and application of counseling.
About the Therapist:
Holen 'Holly' Blackburn, MA, NCC, LMHC: I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC), and received my Master’s in Counseling (MA) from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. Prior to this I attended St. Joseph's College, majoring in psychology. I interned in Washington D.C. at the Kolmac Clinic, primarily specializing in group counseling for chemical dependency. I have worked in corrections, a methadone treatment center, assisted living/nursing home settings, and most recently worked in a group therapy practice. I have over 14+ years of counseling experience. I have found my experiences to have been both rewarding and valuable, and I believe my clients are my greatest teachers.
Presently, I work with ages 16 and above by providing individual therapy, both in-person and virtually. My target population are those struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorders, Social Phobia, specific phobias, and stress management. My primary treatment modality is Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) and Prolonged Exposure treatments to manage a variety of OCD and related anxiety disorders. I am in the process of obtaining a Certificate in Animal Assisted Psychotherapy (CAAP) in the future to incorporate my therapy dog, Gus, into treatment interventions.
